The Cultural Center of Saint-Martin welcomed, last Tuesday, 300 student ambassadors of the values of the Republic, on the occasion of the 3rd congress of elected children.
The Sandy-Ground MJC cinema hall experienced a great moment of emotion when all the students sang a vibrant Marseillaise in unison after the support and encouragement of Anne Laubies, Delegate Prefect of the Northern Islands.
The Collectivity of Saint-Martin and the National Education were represented respectively by Mrs. Gumbs Lake, the 4th vice-president, Michel Sanz, the representative of the rector of the academy and Mr. Boyer, IEN of the 1st degree.
Each of the personalities appreciated at their fair value the different services (sketches, songs, poems, dances) performed by the different classes.
Above all, this event enabled 12 classes (9 classes from Saint-Martin, 1 class from Saint-Barthélemy and 2 classes from the 6th district of Quartier and Cité scolaire) to meet and discuss different republican values: secularism, freedom , diversity, equality, respect, no to discrimination ...
The teaching staff is pleased with the involvement of the students who rose to the occasion.
This project is part of the “citizen journey” of the students, which aims to make them aware of the values of the Republic and to lead them to become responsible and free citizens. AF
