Juliana Airport: The World Bank and the EIB are contributing USD 100 million for its reconstruction

0

Last week the government of Sint Maarten and the representatives of Juliana airport met their creditors in order to maintain their confidence on the one hand, and to take stock of the state of the reconstruction of the city on the other airport platform financed by the World Bank, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Government of the Netherlands.

As a reminder, $ 50 million from the Trust Fund granted by the World Bank to Sint Maarten will be devoted to this project and released in the form of a loan. Another 50 million will be loaned to the government for this same reconstruction project by the EIB. These two amounts were presented to the local Parliament by the Prime Minister in January February of this year. In addition, the government of Sint Maarten has negotiated a $ 15 million loan with the Netherlands to cover operating expenses, including salaries, for the airport. (source: www.soualigapost.com)
