Army: New commander for ADM

The SMA (Adapted Military Service) changed boss from August 1 with the appointment of Brigadier General Thierry Laval, replacing General Thierry de Ladoucette. For almost 60 years, the SMA has been part of public policy in the French overseas departments and territories, by offering an original tool dedicated to training and employing young people from overseas.

Mainly focused on the sustainable employability of young people on the break, the SMA offers each year, to nearly 6 volunteers, both women and men, integration through employment or further training in Guadeloupe, Guyana, Reunion, Martinique, Mayotte, New Caledonia and French Polynesia. Thanks to territorial partnerships, young people from Saint-Martin or Wallis-and-Futuna can benefit from this system. Indeed, regular information and recruitment meetings are set up in Saint-Martin in collaboration with the AIO service (Reception, information, orientation) of the Collectivity, directed by Corine Pineau.

By decree of the President of the Republic, dated July 18, 2019, General Thierry Laval was therefore appointed commander of the Adapted Military Service (SMA) from August 1, 2019. He was thus engaged at the head of a military device effective socio-professional integration, which includes more than 7100 volunteers and military and civilian executives._RM
