ASSOCIATION / ACS Zepin: opening access to historical knowledge of the island

The 10th edition of the Caravan of History, organized by the Cultural and Sports Association ZEPIN, allowed many participants to discover the historical treasures of Saint-Martin on October 27.

This bus tour, crossing the French and Dutch parts of the island, offered a rich exploration of the different heritages, from the Amerindian era to the present day. The route started at Fort Louis early in the morning and continued through various symbolic stops. The guides shared various anecdotes about the local production cycles (tobacco, indigo, cotton, sugar, salt) and the traditions of the island. Each site embodied a part of history, enriched by tastings of local dishes, served with traditional Saint-Martin bread. This year, ACS ZEPIN made the event accessible via the Culture Pass for high school and college students. In collaboration with the Collectivité de Saint-Martin, the association aims to anchor cultural and heritage knowledge among new generations. The final raffle allowed participants to win locally grown plants and fruit trees, in support of the biodiversity and reforestation of the island. ACS Zepin would like to thank all the sponsors for their support and the guides Christophe, Xavier, and Jenn and Mark from Fruits de Mer. The association's next outings will be on November 23 and 30, 2024, with a land/sea getaway by kayak, a mode of transport for the Tainos. _Vx
