On the initiative of the President of the Community Mr. Daniel GIBBS, and in partnership with the Interprofessional Consular Chamber of Saint-Martin (CCISM), an ECONOMIC CELL was set up at the CCISM in partnership with:
• The Banque de France,
• The banks,
• Social partners,
• State and community services,
• Elected officials of the Collectivity,
• And the socio-professional associations of Saint-Martin.
This unit is operational and actively works on the development of measures and solutions for the entrepreneurial sector in Saint-Martin.
Banking and financial services:
All the banks have put in place the suspension of loan withdrawals and overdraft facilities. Regarding this last point, you should contact your bank for more details.
Some ATMs are new operatives. These are the sites of:
- Credit Mutuel Marigot
- BRED Marigot
The other banks and ATMs will reopen gradually next week. We will inform you of this in a future press release.
Social tax debts:
All collection procedures and direct debits (taxes) are suspended until the end of 2017.
Damage and loss assessment:
The community is required, within 15 days, to submit a report to assess all of the loss and damage in order to claim claims not covered by insurance. As such, a form will be given to you to assess these losses (insured or not).
The form can be downloaded from the CCISM website: www.ccism.com
Compensation for employees and business leaders.
The economic unit is currently working on setting up an exceptional compensation scheme for employees and business leaders.
This system will be submitted to the Ministry of Labor and the social partners. The economic unit invites employers to take no redundancy or partial start-up measures at this stage.
For members and retirees of the RSI (Independent Social Network), an emergency relief fund of 1.500 euros per beneficiary has been set up. The CCISM permanence is able to give you the form related to the allocation of this fund.
Insurance declarations:
We remind you that it is essential to contact your respective insurers in order to proceed with your claims. We have obtained additional time for filing declarations; this is set for October 31, 2017.
To all those who are not insured, please contact the CCISM in order to complete a form which will, if necessary, be useful in the event of the release of emergency funds.
Finally, we confirm that we are working to restart the economy of the island in the best conditions and that you will be regularly informed of the progress of the work of the Economic Unit.
In this unprecedented situation, the President will do everything in his power to help Saint-Martin businesses to restart as soon as possible and under the best possible conditions. It encourages them to relaunch their activity to create a collective dynamic and thus allow the territory to leave as quickly as possible.
