The National Day of Remembrance of the Victims and Heroes of Deportation honors the memory of all deportees without distinction and pays tribute to their sacrifice. The purpose of this day is to remind everyone of this major historical drama, the lessons that emerge from it, so that such events do not happen again.
The commemoration ceremony took place on Sunday April 30 in front of the War Memorial in the Gardens of the Community in the presence of the Secretary General, Deputy Prefect Fabien Sésé, the Vice-President Bernadette Davis, the gendarmes and other representatives of the forces of security and the association of veterans of Saint-Martin.
The National Day of Remembrance of the Victims and Heroes of the Deportation takes place every year on the last Sunday of April.
