The President of the COM, Louis Mussington met Serge Letchimy, President of the Executive Council of the Territorial Collectivity of Martinique, on Wednesday July 19, following the measures announced on Tuesday July 18 at the Interministerial Overseas Committee (CIOM).
As part of this trip to Martinique, the President of the Collectivity participated in the presentation of the Interreg-Caribbean Program 2021-2027. This program is part of the "European Territorial Cooperation", it benefits from the financial support of the European Regional Development Fund of the European Commission.
The Interreg Caribbean Program for the period 2021-2027 now includes cross-border cooperation between Saint-Martin and Sint Maarten. This priority of the program aims to strengthen the collaboration between the two parts of our island, thus ensuring a coherent implementation of the cross-border strategy.
With this in mind, this program gives specific priority to enhanced cooperation between Saint-Martin and Sint Maarten, with a budget of 4 million euros.
"Saint-Martin and Sint Maarten share a common destiny and we have an interest in cooperating on subjects such as education, health, water, etc", recalled President Mussington before adding "This new orientation testifies to the commitment in favor of cross-border cooperation which represents an essential lever for meeting common challenges together".
