Corals and mangroves: a new step forward for their conservation

Ségolène Royal, the Minister of the Environment in charge of international relations on the climate, announced yesterday the launch of the action plan to save corals and mangroves, during the COP22, in Marrakech, in the company of Julie Bishop, Minister of Australian Foreign Affairs. In Saint-Martin, the Nature Reserve preserves these ecosystems which make the beauty of the island. These natural wonders are threatened by climate change. “20% of coral reefs have been destroyed”, notes Ms. Royal during her speech. On her Twitter account, the minister congratulated the 70 scientists from the International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI) - which ensures the health of reefs - who have worked on the development of this plan. _EH
