The epidemiological indicators, both for Saint-Martin and for Saint Barthélemy confirm a sharp deterioration in the health situation. The 5th wave is here and there!
The latest health bulletin published by the Regional Health Agency reports 2561 new cases recorded for the period from January 3 to 9, 2022 against 1 the previous week. The number of cumulative cases of coronavirus confirmed on the territory since the start of the health crisis is 120.
Note that since January 10, 805 new cases of Covid-19 have already been recorded in 3 days out of 3 analyzes carried out, demonstrating that the dynamic of the past week is still just as strong.
Epidemiological indicators confirm a situation never before known on Saint-Martin
According to SI-DEP ARS data, the incidence rate is up sharply and stands at 7/164,4 inhabitants, compared to 100/000 from December 3, 088,5 to January 100, 000. .
The weekly positivity rate is also up very sharply, with a rate of 27,8% against 18,0% the previous week.
As of January 12, 16 confirmed Covid-19 patients are hospitalized at the Louis-Constant Fleming hospital center and 2 at CH De Bruyn in Saint-Barth. The hospital impact of the 5th wave is increasing. It should be noted that the staff of the two establishments are also impacted by the new variant and that fewer caregivers can thus be mobilized at the bedsides of the patients: the pressure on the hospital is therefore significant.
Note the death of a patient positive for Covid-19 at his home. Since the start of the crisis, 60 Saint-Martin residents and 6 residents of Saint Barthélemy have died as a result of Covid-19.
The ARS would like to take advantage of this health bulletin to particularly thank all the professionals in the field (from Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy) who have been able to mobilize and have responded "present", since the end of December, to propose a substantial test offer, without denying the quality of the latter. We must emphasize the commitment of these professionals (nurses, doctors, pharmacists, physiotherapists, etc.) who allow us to identify positive tests as soon as possible, and who thereby render an important service to the many travellers. Congratulations again and thank you! _AF
