Faced with the epidemic rebound caused by the Delta variant, the President of the Republic announced the vaccination obligation for caregivers and the extension of the health pass to cafes, restaurants, shopping centers, leisure and cultural places receiving more than 50 people. Overview of the new measures.

• A “strong recovery” of the epidemic accentuated by the Delta variant

"A strong resumption of the epidemic which affects the whole territory". Faced with the spread of the Delta variant, Emmanuel Macron warned of the “difficulties” that threaten. "As long as the virus circulates, we will be faced with this type of situation," he said, while calling for massive use of vaccination.

• The “health pass” extended in August to shopping centers, bars, restaurants, trains, planes, hospitals and retirement homes

The health pass will be compulsory for those over 18 in “places of leisure and culture” of more than 50 people from July 21. It will then be extended from the beginning of August, and will concern shopping centers, trains, planes, bars and restaurants, as well as hospitals, retirement homes, and medico-social establishments.

• For 12-17 year olds, the health pass will finally apply on August 30

"The health pass for adolescents from 12 to 17 years old will apply from August 30," said the Minister of Health on Tuesday evening, specifying that this pass would now be valid one week after the second injection and no longer two weeks. .

Note that for traveling abroad, the two-week rule continues to apply. Another announcement to remember: employees of places open to the public must have received their first dose before August 1, with a complete vaccination schedule by August 30. Otherwise, you will have to go through the PCR test box every two days.

• Compulsory vaccination of caregivers and non-carers in health establishments, checks from September 15

A bill aimed at making the vaccination of caregivers compulsory will be sent to the Council of State, before being presented to the Council of Ministers on Monday, July 19. It will then be examined in the course of next week by Parliament, under an accelerated procedure. This measure will apply "without delay", and those concerned will have "until September 15" to comply with it. After which "controls will be carried out and sanctions will be taken".

• The “comfort” PCR and antigen tests will pay off next fall.

From October, PCR and antigenic tests will become chargeable, except medical prescription, announced the President of the Republic, "in order to encourage vaccination rather than the multiplication of tests".

The prices should be the same as those charged to foreign tourists: up to 49 euros  for PCRs and 29 euros for antigens

• Vaccination campaigns for middle and high school students and students at the start of the school year

As of the next school year, “specific” vaccination campaigns will be deployed to all middle school, high school and university students in the country. The latter had been the later concerned by the previous phases.

• A reminder campaign "from the start" for the categories vaccinated in early 2021

The first categories of the population to have benefited from the vaccine, at the start of 2021, will be eligible “from the start of the school year” for a recall campaign. It will allow them to benefit from a new injection "according to the same system and under the same conditions as the first one (s)".

• Reinforcement of border controls, forced isolation of unvaccinated travelers

People from countries "at risk" will be subject to reinforced controls, said Emmanuel Macron. Forced isolation will also be imposed on all unvaccinated travelers as of July 21.
