In Toulouse, the Pelicarus and Unified St. Maarten Connection associations celebrated St. Martin's Day last weekend, Pelicarus announced, adding that around fifty young people, from several cities including London and Amsterdam, were present. On this occasion, the participants took part in the "Culture and Progress" seminar. “The idea is to allow young people from the Dutch side and the French side living in Europe to think about the future they imagine for the island by proposing solutions.” The discussions were constructive and several “controversial” subjects were discussed, including “why Saint Martin is no longer the Friendly Island” or “what is slowing the development of the island”. _EH
