Education: It's back to school time!

The pupils of Saint-Martin returned to school yesterday. Back to school less hectic than expected since the teachers' unions who had filed strike notice if the work scheduled for the summer were not completed, finally decided to put their demands aside to welcome the students at the start of the school year.

The Grand-Case school has reopened "by the force of the wrist" suggests Dominique Boyer, the inspector of the first degree. Indeed, at the end of the week, given the extent of the damage, the headmistress had asked the parents of students to help clean the school. The national education also asked all the available contractuals, by specifying to them that they were not obliged, and with the educational advisers of the first degree to come to help to prepare the establishment for the re-entry. As of Friday morning, there was still no water, doors or windows, but the work was carried out by the company mandated by the COM over the weekend.

As for the Siméonne Trott school, managed since this year by the 3rd vice-president of the COM Annick Petrus, the work begins. As there was not enough space, and the canteen is currently under the covered courtyard, the very small sections (2 years) cannot be accommodated and three other classes have been outsourced to Evelina Halley. The work initially scheduled by the COM during the summer, should finally be completed in January. Consequently, the reception of the TPS will be restored and the pupils of the three externalized classes will be able to be welcomed in the school. There will still be work to cover the second building, scheduled for July 2019. (More details on www.soualigapost.com)
