Daniel Gibbs, president of the Collectivity of Saint-Martin, takes note of the announcement made Monday April 13, 2020 by the president of the Republic Emmanuel Macron, as for the progressive reopening of the nurseries, schools, colleges and high schools, as of Monday May 11, 2020 on the national territory.
In the midst of a COVID-19 epidemic, this decision limited to educational establishments, and the method and resources required of which have not been revealed by the government, calls to President Gibbs. Many questions arise today before we can envisage a resumption of classes in Saint-Martin.
This is why, the president of the Collectivity of Saint-Martin and his team wish to meet the teachers 'unions, the parents' representatives, the directors of the schools, the school transporters and the CTOS, in order to discuss recovery conditions.
The reopening of educational establishments can only be effective in Saint-Martin when all of these conditions are met, consistent with the health situation in our territory and the means made available by the Government to protect the population.
President Gibbs does not want to take any risks for students and school administrators, and ultimately, for all the inhabitants of Saint-Martin.
