Around 7:45 am yesterday morning, a spectacular fire broke out at the back of the Carrefour Market supermarket, located at Bush Road.
As soon as the firefighters quickly arrived, they spotted a large cloud of smoke and felt heat waves from the rear of the building.
The Sint-Maarten police immediately closed all roads to traffic, allowing firefighters to fight the fire more effectively.
Two hours later, the 28 firefighters on the scene finally managed to put out the flames.
A police investigation is currently underway to determine the real causes of this fire and to assess the damage with the owners. _AF
