Gastronomy / Faxinfo has tested for you… Le Shogun

The Shogun is a Thai restaurant located in Jordan Village, a district well known for its dynamism. We were able to test, for you, the atmosphere and the buffet.

Last Tuesday, we were a little hungry so we decided to test the Shogun which opened a month ago in Jordan Village. We arrive by a small terrace which can still accommodate fifteen people to enter the room.

At first glance, it looks like any fast food but only at first glance. Louy, the chef, has lived in Saint-Martin for six years where she worked for several fine tables on the island. She is from Phuket, Thailand and when she joined the Shogun project it was to offer cuisine typical of her country. We find, every day, in its buffet offer, seven dishes and the traditional spring rolls, tapas, samosas with Thai flavors. Lemongrass and Asian aromatics are picked each morning. Yes, there are fresh herbs on the island… In addition to the buffet, you can taste pad Thai prepared by the minute for more flavor. Louy knows her subject well since she offers you lunch and dinner recipes that she learned while cooking with her family.

Before arriving in Saint-Martin, she owned her own restaurant in Phuket where she refined her know-how. What we particularly liked was being able to taste dishes with truly exotic flavors and fine tastes at the speed of fast food. It's the ideal balance when you work, you don't have time to prepare something to eat healthy every day but you still want to be careful about what you swallow.

Basically, the Shogun offers us butter, buttermilk and creamer!

The cuisine is really healthy, very little fat, lots of fresh vegetables, the right balance of protein and the icing on the cake is, of course, the variety of flavors. In the window, there are almost all the colors! Little more, note, we park very easily. It is a real advantage when you go gusting to get your lunch! We had a curry chicken dish with white rice and vegetable noodles. A priori rather usual dishes so we were sure to know what we were going to eat. Well, you might as well say that we were surprised.

The taste does not fundamentally change from what we know but it is really the finesse that surprised us, the tastes are perfectly balanced and we really feel all the ingredients. Thai lovers will recognize there a real plus.

To taste Louy's specialties, you can find it every day except Monday, from 11 a.m. to 21:30 p.m. at the Shogun, in Jordan Village behind the Casino Stars. _NB
