At least four apartments were damaged by a fire, the origin of which appears to be the explosion of a gas cylinder. The accident took place on Saturday August 31, around 8:00 am, in the La Palmeraie residence in Quartier d'Orléans. Fortunately, only two victims are to be deplored, one who was slightly injured and another shocked. They were taken care of by the emergency services.

The gendarmerie, the territorial police and the fire brigade were quickly dispatched to the scene. The fire, which started in an apartment on the top floor of the building, was contained by the firefighters after it had spread to neighboring accommodation. President Daniel Gibbs welcomes the rapid intervention of the emergency services and assures that "attentive support for disaster-stricken families will be ensured by the Solidarity and Families Cluster of the Community".

The 3rd and 4th vice-presidents of the Community, Annick Pétrus and Steven Patrick went to the site. The services of Vice-President Petrus were also on site to support the victims, who included 7 adults and 8 children. The La Palmeraie residence is managed by Semsamar, which immediately relocated three families in equipped mobile homes, located in the neighboring residence, pending sustainable relocation.

The Directorate of Autonomy of People of the Solidarity and Families Pole of the Com is responsible for coordinating the assistance that is provided to disaster victims, in collaboration with the organizations and associations of the territory. Psychological support is also put in place, in collaboration with the ARS and the Louis-Constant Fleming hospital. In a press release, President Gibbs "sends all his support to the families affected by this fire and thanks all of the elected officials and staff of the Community who mobilized quickly to help these people overcome this difficult ordeal."RM
