On Friday December 22, 2023, Alain Richardson, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ITSEE, inaugurated the establishment of the Club de la Conjoncture. This innovative initiative aims to create a platform for exchange and sharing with the notable objective of the quarterly publication of economic indicators, whether general or thematic.
The participants in this first session of the Club were representatives of structures holding varied and particularly relevant data for an in-depth analysis of the socio-economic situation of Saint-Martin.
Alongside President Richardson and the ITSEE teams were representatives of Pôle Emploi, the Port of Galisbay, the Grand-Case Airport, the Water Establishment (EEASM), the Public Finance Center and of the Tax Department of the Community.
In his inaugural speech, Alain Richardson expressed his wish to see the birth of “the beginning of a promising collaborative adventure where we will join forces to create a significant and unprecedented impact on the understanding of the local situation and its challenges”.
“The wealth of the Club is you! »
He also underlined that one of the Club's strengths lies in the diversity and complementarity of those who make it up. Affirming “The wealth of the Club is you! » he emphasized the importance of members who bring unique expertise and in-depth knowledge in various sectors and he encouraged common commitment in terms of transparency and sharing. After a detailed presentation of the Club's operating methods by Mr. Winnicki, Director of ITSEE, each participant expressed, with obvious enthusiasm, the nature and pace of the information that they will share with ITSEE analysts.
President Richardson recalled the strict rules of confidentiality and anonymization applied by the Statistical Institute of Saint-Martin.
Finally, he reaffirmed his objective of providing the governance of the Community with a tool for understanding and interpreting the territory, both economically and socially. He also hopes that all of ITSEE's work will complement the information intended for investors as well as regional, national and international partners of the Saint-Martin Community.
The Club will meet again at the end of the first quarter of 2024, with the aim of publishing the very first economic bulletin from the Territorial Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies.
