In accordance with the interministerial circular of May 3, 2019 relating to commemorations related to slavery and according to the law n ° 2017-256 of February 28, 2017 of programming relating to real equality overseas, the possibility of commemorating the abolition of slavery in Saint-Martin on May 28 is open.
The Collectivity confirmed its wish to celebrate the abolition of slavery in Saint-Martin on May 28, so as to be "completely consistent with history".
Consequently, the prefecture of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin informs that the date of commemoration of the abolition of slavery is fixed for May 28, 2019.
The provisions of article L. 3422-2 of the French labor code will apply for this selected date, May 28, 2019 being considered as a public holiday
