Community cleans beaches after Easter weekend

In order to carry out an immediate cleaning of the beaches the day after the Easter weekend, the community asked the company EME to intervene on Tuesday morning for a major cleaning and to erase all traces of the passage of the campers who left behind them a lot of waste despite the skips deposited for this purpose.

A team of 10 people was dispatched by the company and responsible for cleaning the beaches of Galisbay, Friar's Bay, Grand Case, Cul de Sac, as well as the Galleon. By midday Tuesday, all of the beaches had returned to their original appearance. The community recalls that the public good is the good of all and that it is up to everyone to preserve it. An eco-responsible attitude would have been enough for the campers to collect their waste and throw it in the dumpsters set up by the Collectivity in preparation for the Easter weekend.

Despite constant awareness of respect for the environment, too many people continue to ignore the rules of good manners and the preservation of our immediate environment. The environmental police were responsible for verbalizing the offenders.

Concerned about the cleanliness of the territory, the Collectivity of Saint-Martin made a public contract with the integration company EME for the cleaning of the beaches after the passage of Hurricane Irma. This cleaning is still in effect and will continue as necessary.
