Dorian returned to a Category 4 hurricane on Monday. But it was in category 5 that he touched the Abaco Islands in the Bahamas on Sunday mid-morning.

The reported speed was then 295 km / h with a gust at 354km / h observed at Elbow Cay, a similar speed indicated by the NHC during the entire passage from Irma to Saint-Martin. Irma's minimum pressure was 918 hPa, that of Dorian Sunday was 911 hPa.

Irma was traveling twice as fast as Dorian: 26 km / h against 11 or 13 km / h for Dorian in the Bahamas on Sunday.

For Irma, the NHC predicted a rise in sea level from 7 to 11 feet over the northern Lesser Antilles,  for Dorian, an elevation between 18 and 23 feet.

Inside Dorian, hurricane winds (the strongest) extended up to 75 km from the eye, tropical storm winds over a radius of 220 km. At most Irma over Saint-Martin, hurricane winds extended up to 85 km from the eye, tropical storm winds over a radius of 280 km. (source: soualigapost.com)
