At a press conference on Monday, Wendel Cocks, president of Semsamar announced the creation of a business group with Arkolia, a company based in Montpellier and specialized in the development of renewable energies. Together, they aim to build three farms or solar power plants in the French part of the island.
"The smallest farm will have a production capacity of 1,7 megawatts and a construction cost of 5 million euros and the largest of 5 megawatts for a construction cost of 10 million euros", specifies Laurent Bonhomme, the president of Arkolia canvassed a year ago by the Sem.
The first farm will be built in Concordia; Arkolia and Semsamar hope to be able to start work this year.
