Bring together the parents of students from all public schools in Saint-Martin and represent them to the management of said institutions, the teaching staff, the rectorate, the community, these are the two main missions of the union of parents of pupils of Saint-Martin (UPESM).
For ten years the association has been defending the interests of students and parents. The association is all the more effective in its missions if the parents are mobilized and represent as many establishments as possible. Hence a call from the office, which has been chaired by Angèle Hodge for two years. “On October 9, elections for school council delegates will take place and as many parents as possible need to vote,” explains the president.
This year, lists could be formed in all secondary schools as well as in two primary schools. The lists and other voting material will be given to parents via their children in the coming days. “It is important that every parent reads it and votes. Due to sanitary conditions, a postal vote will be set up, ”specifies Angèle Hodge.
“There is strength in unity, this is nothing new! But it is by bringing together the forces available whatever the level (nursery, primary, college, high school), by collecting all the necessary data that we can better collectively address the problems of the various establishments. We make representations but also a lot of mediation ”, recognizes the association.
Today the UPESM is represented in thirteen of the nineteen public schools in the French part thanks to its members. (soualigapost.com)
