MICRO-TROTTOIR: How are you adapting to the current high temperatures?

Natacha (Saleswoman)
"I admit that it's hard to bear such heat every day. This is one of the first years where it's been this hot! For the moment, we have been spared from the cyclones. I hope it will continue like this because with these temperatures recorded here, the cyclonic phenomena could be even more violent. The water temperature is around 30 degrees, or even more. It's far too much. We still have more than a month to live in this stifling heat. We have to deal with it, we have no choice. In the meantime, it is important to stay well hydrated and avoid staying under this blazing sun."

Hugues (Gendarme)
"First of all, I don't go out every morning without my flask filled with fresh water! Otherwise, I try not to mentally suffer from this heat on a daily basis. I was still in France a few weeks ago. However, I see that my family and friends are starting to feel the cold at home. So, I'm not going to complain about being hot in the Antilles. You just have to avoid doing sports during the hottest hours of the day and above all remember to hydrate yourself well. For our personal comfort, it's always nice to turn on the air conditioning, but on the other hand, we also have to think about preserving the planet!"

Marion (Civil Servant)
“I am lucky to live in an apartment on the top floor. Every day, I try to create a draft by opening my two bay windows and my two large windows. In fact, I have decided to stop turning on the air conditioner. This is reflected in my electricity bill! Otherwise, like everyone else, I think about hydrating myself every day by drinking lots of water. I also have a small fan that I use every day, including during meetings! Since arriving in Saint-Martin last May, I have suffered a little from the climate but now it is better even if the temperatures of the last few weeks have been really high.”
