The Harlem Gospel Choir was founded on the day of Martin Luther King's birthday, January 15, 1986 by Allen Bailey and has 65 members, aged 17 to 70 years old.
The Harlem Gospel Choir sang for Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI, Paul McCartney, Nelson Mandela, Elton John, as well as with The Chieftains, Diana Ross, Whoopi Goldberg, Harry Belafonte, Danny Glover, the Dixie Hummingbirds , Jimmy Cliff, Lyle Lovett, Bono and U2, André Rieu and his orchestra, and many others.
