In its pelagic sargassum stranding monitoring and forecasting bulletin for the northern islands published this Monday, August 29, 2022, Météo France maintains the medium risk for Saint-Martin and high for Saint-Barthélemy.
Arrivals of Sargassum in sometimes significant waves are to be expected on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. North of Saint-Barthélemy, many rafts more or less organized into filaments are pushed mainly by the wind towards the east coast of Saint-Martin. In the east and southeast of Saint-Barthélemy other rafts are pushed by the flow mainly west to northwest. More or less punctual arrivals are observed on the coasts exposed to the flow of the French island. In the next two weeks, sargassum groundings are very likely. For the northern islands, detections at around 90-150 km show that the Sargassum danger is still present. _VX
