It took less than four minutes for elected members of the territorial council meeting Thursday morning in plenary session to unanimously decide to resign Ramona Connor from her mandate as territorial councilor.
Appointed in April 2018 to replace Alain Richardson dismissed by the Council of State, Ramona Connor has never attended plenary sessions or other meetings. Its absence was regularly highlighted by elected officials wondering about the consequences. In other words, it was about why was Ramona Connor still on the Territorial Council when she wasn't coming?
Louis Mussington asked the question again this morning: "why did it last so long as we knew that the person in question did not wish to occupy too much this function because he had to assume professionally very important responsibilities at the level of the hospital structure? "
The answer is simple: according to the organic law of 2007, “she must be absent from four consecutive territorial councils in a period of four months. And these conditions have only been met now. She was absent in April, May, June and July ”, recalled the president of the COM. And to clarify that Ramona Connor had never expressed his desire to resign either. However, she always received her elected officials' allowances (1 euros gross per month).
The next candidate on the list, Alain Gros-Desormeaux, will join the territorial council to represent the group En Marche towards progress. However, its entry is not immediate. Today's decision of the territorial council must first be sent to the prefecture for validation (like all deliberations) then the State services must officially declare the name next candidate.
