IEDOM report: “Tourism is recovering”

At the CCISM, the Emission Institute of the overseas departments (IEDOM) yesterday unveiled the 2015 annual report for Saint-Martin, in the presence of the president of the Aline Hanson community, the prefect Anne Laubies and the deputy Daniel Gibbs.

In the past 12 months, Gilles Genre-Grandpierre, director of the Guadeloupe / Northern Islands pole, said he was particularly surprised by “a certain dynamism in many Caribbean countries due to the international context, particularly geopolitics”. Europeans are attracted to this area, which benefits Saint Martin. Thanks to sustained tourism, the territory's economic activity is doing quite well. The weakness of the euro has benefited several business sectors, the construction industry is still encountering difficulties. _EH
