Two units of the Armed Forces in the Antilles have been present since the beginning of the week on the neighboring island for the maritime and sporting event, the "Voiles de Saint-Barth".

The coastal port tug (RPC) Maïto and the coastal patrol boat of the maritime gendarmerie (PCGM) Violette sailed respectively from Fort-de-France and Pointe-à-Pitre for a multi-mission deployment in the Northern Islands. Taking advantage of their deployment in the area, the Maïto and the Violet joined forces with Les Voiles de Saint-Barth.

The French Navy is indeed a natural partner of the world of sailing through the common values of the taste for effort, combativeness and crew spirit in the highly demanding environment of the sea.

Based in Martinique and Guadeloupe, the armed forces units in the Antilles are regularly deployed in the Northern Islands to ensure the presence and sovereignty of France at sea, around Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy. Marine units conduct several missions: maritime surveillance, fight against drug trafficking, assistance to users of the sea or protection of French economic and environmental interests by conducting illegal fishing police operations in our waters or fighting maritime pollution in the area.  _AF
