The Guadeloupe, Saint-Martin, Saint-Barthélemy Health Agency was informed by the Bruyn Hospital on Friday evening, December 13, of a suspected case of meningococcal meningitis in a resident of Saint-Barthélemy.
The latter is supported in compliance with existing protocols and seems to respond favorably to the treatments administered. Samples have been taken and are currently being sent to laboratories that can process them. At the same time, the Health Agency and Public Health France (SPF) are seeking to identify contact cases (interaction of more than one hour, less than one meter face to face, in the last 10 days) to organize care adapted to each situation (administration of antibiotic prophylaxis if necessary). Thus, only people contacted by the ARS or SPF during the weekend should go to the emergency room, if this has been offered to them.
