President Daniel Gibbs represented Saint-Martin last Wednesday at the Caribbean Hotel & Resort Investment Summit (CHRIS) in Miami, exclusively dedicated to hotel investment in the Caribbean.

Forty people participated in the first session dedicated to investment opportunities in Saint-Martin "Opportunities in Collectivity of St Martin", on May 22. Investors have shown a real interest in the restart of the tourist destination and its reconstruction phase. The President did not fail to recall the multiple socio-economic assets of the territory, in particular in terms of legal and institutional stability, and the investment opportunities that present themselves, without hiding the problems linked to reconstruction. The President was widely praised for the work undertaken by the Collectivity and its partners, private companies and individuals, since the passage of Irma, as well as for the development projects carried by the territory within the framework of its reconstruction and relaunching the destination.

The second session dedicated to Saint-Martin "Views from the heads of Government", created a real craze and welcomed nearly 400 participants (investors, consultants, developers, promoters, etc.) who came to learn about the opportunities offered by the islands of Saint Martin and the Virgin Islands who were in a joint session for having suffered the hurricanes of September 2017.

President Gibbs took advantage of this constructive space for exchanges to answer the many questions about the reconstruction of the territory, but also about current and future investment projects.

The discussions were fruitful for Saint-Martin, which aroused great interest from the audience. More than 80 contacts have been initiated by the president and his team and will have to be followed up in the coming months by the technicians from the Economic Development Center. Among these interviews, some are potential providers or suppliers for Saint-Martin businesses. A large number of investors have shown a particular interest in Saint-Martin, whose development still attracts as much.

President Gibbs said he was very satisfied with this first participation in an investment-related fair since September 2017, in particular with regard to the participants' interest in Saint-Martin which remains an attractive territory in many respects.
