Seizure of 59kg of cocaine and arrest of three traffickers

During the night of July 1 to 2, a general surveillance patrol of the Saint-Martin PSIG observed the suspicious behavior of three individuals who were on the shore of Marigot Bay. A thorough check revealed that the individuals were carrying 53,4 kg of cocaine. The three individuals, of foreign nationality, were immediately arrested and placed in police custody. Under the joint authority of the Basse-Terre prosecutor's office and the Sint-Maarten prosecutor's office, major investigations were immediately carried out, revealing an additional 5,5 kg of cocaine and a 40-caliber Smith and Wesson pistol. They also made it possible to determine that these facts were part of the framework of international drug trafficking. The three traffickers were deported on July 5 to the specialized inter-regional jurisdiction of Martinique, indicted and imprisoned. _AF
