Concrete measures were announced this month by the prefecture to fight against sargassum. Among the solutions envisaged, it was a question of creating green brigades. The Community and the State are launching a call for projects with companies wishing to get involved in this fight against algae.
Beware of Sargassum: the green brigades, made up of a total of 20 people, will soon be on the ground. These teams, supported by the Collectivity, will be responsible for collecting algae, but also for enhancing the coastline. "In view of the employment situation in the territory, it was agreed that these jobs, entirely financed by the State and by ADEME, would be carried by integration structures", specifies the prefecture. Under the authority of the COM, the selected companies will therefore have to lead the teams and have small equipment to guarantee the safety of the employees. “Particular attention will be paid to the social and professional integration of residents of priority areas of the city policy as well as to environmental protection,” adds the prefecture. As a reminder, the State, the Collectivity, the Nature Reserve, the Coastal Conservatory, the Interprofessional Consular Chamber of Saint-Martin (CCISM), the Verde company and ADEME met at the beginning of the month to develop a plan action against these algae. The deadline for submitting a project has been set for August 7th. Interested structures are requested to send their file to the following addresses: regis.armengaud@saint-barth-saint-martin.gouv.fr; gisele.ermond@saint-barth-saint-martin.gouv.fr and anne-marie.bouille@com-saint-martin.fr.
Very GOOD IDEA, but the day the people are in place, there will be no more Sargassum
Hope they clean up the beaches
Hope brings life
