A practical guide for collecting sargassum has been published by the Department of Environment, Planning and Housing (DEAL) of Guadeloupe. The objective of this document is to remind good practices of collecting these algae in particular to the green and blue crossing guards responsible for cleaning the beaches and bays of the archipelago. Cleaning is a delicate operation, because it can have “a negative environmental impact mainly when carried out with mechanical devices”. Concerning the algae collected, it is suggested as far as possible, to “spread the algae in a thin layer (about 10 cm). This allows them to be oxygenated in order to avoid H2S emissions, and to dry them in order to reduce their volume ”. _EH
