SAUR: The return of water to the tap!

0

The defective engine on one of the production units of the Galisbay plant was changed on Saturday March 12, thanks to the delivery the day before of a new engine. SAUR Saint-Martin announced a gradual replenishment on Sunday for all users.

The outage that occurred 8 days ago considerably impacted drinking water production capacities, causing a major deficit in the main reservoirs of Morne Valois and Concordia.

Water towers and night cuts have therefore been put in place by SAUR Saint-Martin, in order to avoid a total shortage of water on the territory. If the water towers have made it possible to maintain production in recent days, the untimely breakages occurring during the frequent manipulation of the valves, as well as the recurring leaks in certain private housing estates, have complicated the maneuver and emptied the tanks much faster than expected. . They also distorted the distribution resumption times announced by press release. Nevertheless, the civility of users, having fully understood the emergency situation and making sure to limit their consumption, made it possible to maintain distribution in the main districts, in particular the priority sectors serving the hospital, the retirement home and the major part of the schools. The SAUR Saint-Martin teams have worked tirelessly over the past few days to get the production unit back into service. Users were thus able to find a normal distribution of drinking water on Sunday. This therefore resulted in the stopping of the water towers as well as the stopping of the night cuts, starting on Sunday.

SAUR has also ordered two other engines. Once these new facilities are operational, the plant will benefit from additional safety in terms of production and users will be able to count on enhanced service. The Collectivity of Saint-Martin and its Water and Sanitation Establishment (EEASM) apologize to users for the difficult past week and thank them for their patience and understanding. The Collectivity also salutes the SAUR Saint-Martin teams who have worked tirelessly to restore normal service.
