Between March 13 and April 12, the KPSM Bike Patrol of the Sint Maarten police carried out a series of road checks in the Philipsburg area: Front Street, Backstreet, CA Canneigieter Street and Walter A. Nisbeth Road.

1421 vehicles were thus inspected. 200 motorists had to remove their shade on the spot, 50 had to pay a fine for this shade after checking with a tinting machine. The Sint Maarten police point out that the windshield and the front side windows must have 70% transparency, while the rear windows must have 40%. Six vehicles were also immobilized and towed because their owners had not paid the 2019 tax, and eight motorists were transferred to the police station for unpaid fines. One driver was fined ANG 1550 (approximately $ 830). In total, the fines issued  during these checks amount to 3250 ANG (approximately 1740 dollars).
