The Local Security and Crime Prevention Council (CLSPD) met as a select committee on Tuesday, September 20 at the Hôtel de la Collectivité, with the aim of defining the main orientations and priorities of the policy of co-production of Territorial Security and Crime Prevention.

President Louis Mussington, President of the CLSPD, opened the session alongside Prefect Vincent Berton and the Public Prosecutor of Basse-Terre Mr. Sicot. The services of the Cabinet of the Collectivity as well as the Prefecture, the Delegate of the Prefect, the gendarmerie, the territorial police, the Living environment delegation, the Human Development delegation and the Solidarity and Family delegation were also present.

The objective of the CLSPD is to contribute, alongside the State and Justice, to prevention among people exposed to crime, to the protection of vulnerable people who are victims of domestic or intra-family violence and to promote public tranquility on the territory.

The priorities of the CLSPD are centered on the living environment of the inhabitants, living together and the implementation of a territorial plan for security and the prevention of delinquency (25 targeted actions). The CLSPD wishes to target students aged 8 to 18, young people encountering difficulties within priority neighborhoods of city policy, but also people placed under judicial control and/or released from prison.

Among the major projects that will be deployed as part of the territory's security and crime prevention policy is the improvement of the public lighting scheme, particularly in areas that are too poorly lit and therefore conducive to crime.

The reinforcement of urban equipment necessary for prevention, such as video protection and the creation of a car pound, is one of the priorities identified by the CLSPD. This work is already well underway.
