An earthquake of magnitude 4,8 on the Richter scale was recorded last Friday at 2:01 am and identified as a tectonic type, announced the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Guadeloupe (OVSG). The epicenter was located 40 km south-south-east of Saint-Barthélemy, 102 km deep. In addition, the regional regional seismicity report for the month of February 2017 has just been published by the institution. A total of 138 earthquakes of tectonic origin, of maximum magnitude 5,8 were recorded in an area of 450 km around Guadeloupe. Three earthquakes were felt in the Northern Islands: the largest occurred on February 5 in the morning, of magnitude 4, 13 km north-northwest of Saint-Martin.
