Sint Maarten (Covid-19): Health authorities worried about the drastic increase in the number of confirmed cases

In view of the figures recorded in recent days, the number of confirmed cases continues to soar. 20 new people have indeed tested positive for Covid-19 on December 15, bringing the number of active cases to 132. The total number of confirmed cases is now 1269 since the start of the epidemic.

The Collective Prevention Services (CPS) are still monitoring 129 people placed in isolation at their homes, all showing suspicious symptoms linked to the coronavirus.

In addition, 3 patients are hospitalized at Sint Maarten Medical Center.

The total number of deaths linked to Covid-19 is 26.

The number of people cured since the first case declared in the Dutch part has risen to 1111.

Another 182 people are also under surveillance after perhaps having come into contact with an active case.

Finally, the health services have already tested 1670 travelers arriving at Princess Juliana International Airport and 8856 people across the country.

"We are currently witnessing a drastic increase in the number of confirmed cases and urge the public to respect the mandatory regulations in place", warn the health authorities, before adding "It is your duty to wash your hands, to wear your mask and monitor your distance in public places ”. _AF
