SPORT & NAUTISM: DAPA at Galion to close 2021 in style!

The last Outdoor Activities Discovery session (DAPA) took place on Galion beach for three days marked by sport and the magic of Christmas.

The formula remains unchanged for the great pleasure of children from 7 to 14 years old: the DAPA device organized by the Club Nautique de Saint Martin and supported by the Directorate of Youth, Sports and Social Cohesion (DJSCS) was created to allow children who generally do not have the possibility of practicing various outdoor sports activities to be able to have access to them supervised by professionals (including AFPS lifeguards). The previous DAPA sessions had met with great success, the latter was no exception to the rule. Sixty children followed one another every day to follow a rich program with activities such as boxing with the provision of an inflatable ring by ABC Intersports, as well as trampolines where the kids did choreography, paddle, loaned by the Galion surf club, the essential swimming area delimited by a water line and supervised by BNSSA (national patent for safety and aquatic rescue) and finally the games board on the beach where children have played soccer, frisbee and ball at the prisoner. Who says DAPA of the end of the year says DAPA of Christmas, the organizers (Nika, Coline, Coco,…) and the twenty volunteers, had planned “sandman” workshops and especially the visit of Santa Claus, arriving proudly in kayaking and bringing gifts to the children who were unaware of the surprise. Tuesday was devoted to the children of Quartier d'Orléans, Wednesday to those of Concordia and finally Thursday with those of Sandy Ground. A bus went to the respective schools each morning and brought the children back at the end of the day. To restore energy to all the toddlers, it was Mylène who was in charge of feeding the fine team, with her succulent roast chickens accompanied by pasta and potato salads. Breakfast and a snack were also given to the children. If the future of the DAPA system remains uncertain at the moment because it is awaiting a new subsidy, it is good to hope that it will last, because it is undoubtedly a real asset for the youth of Saint-Martin. _VX
