The Alumni Association - Sxm Alumni - founded, on January 1, 2019, Sxm School Info, a school information project dedicated to students, in high school as well as during their studies, and to parents of students.
This initiative was born to compensate for the lack of information and preparation of the latter with regard to the great compulsory departure for those who wish to continue their studies. A few weeks ago, a student now schooled in Orleans confided on the phone "Madame, it's as if I was being sent to war without arms".
In December 2018, a few months ago, when the founders of the Alumni Association questioned by show of hands, the students in the 50th grade, more than XNUMX% of them did not know what CROUS was, nor that the Community issued student grants, nor were they able to assess the price that a year of study in mainland or Canada would cost them.
Sxm Alumni now has an arsenal of tools to fulfill the mission of Sxm School Info: Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. Every day, serious information is published on essential themes: housing, scholarships, guidance, bac reform.
Our objective is that quality school information is no longer reserved for an elite, but democratic, accessible to all Saint-Martin residents, whatever their origins. There are rare talents in high school, and we must support them.
Saint-Martin admitted to one of the most selective programs on the planet
As part of this project, we supported Stevenson Miller, whom we met last December. His wish was to go, during his last summer before the bac, to Chicago to see a friend. We convinced him that it was better to invest his time and money in acquiring Western codes, as do all high school students in the best schools, through the very popular summer schools of Harvard, Oxford, Columbia or still from UCLA, California.
Summer schools are international university programs, allowing a student to validate several subjects during a residential seminar on a campus. Each year, the HEC Youth Leadership Initiative brings together the best students from the most renowned establishments on the planet, including: Lycée Louis-le-Grand, Paris; Goethe Gymnasium in Vienna; FrenchAmerican School of New York; Keio Academy of New York; Lycée Français de New York; French Lycée Charles Lepierre in Lisbon; French Lycée Charles de Gaulle in London etc.
Youth Leadership Initiative students will have access to classrooms, study rooms, library, student restaurant, etc. of the entire HEC Paris campus.
Details of the Youth Leadership Initiative:
• July 21 - July 27, 2019
• High school students aged 1 to 17 from around the world
• Address: on the 320 hectare HEC Paris campus located at the gates of Paris
• 40 students of 19 different nationalities with more than 13 languages spoken
