The 2016 “Euan McFarlane Environmental Leadership” award from the Island Resources Foundation was recently awarded to Tadzio Bervoets, well known locally for his environmental initiatives. This award recognizes “his important work as a dedicated and passionate defender of the Caribbean”. This prize is awarded on the basis of an opinion from the Caribbean Conservatives Advisory Committee, chaired by Judith Ann Towle. Tadzio Bervoets, director of the Nature Foundation Sint Maarten and vice-president of the Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance (DCNA), was thus appointed by his colleagues wishing to highlight his skills in policy and management, as well as his experience in local, national and regional level. _EH
