Last May, the Air Antilles Express company presented its “CARIBSKY-PAIRE” project at the airports of Guadeloupe and Martinique. The objective is to develop regional inter-island air traffic but also to facilitate cooperation between transport operators in the Caribbean area and optimize services.
To do this, Air Antilles Express and its partners Liat and Winair have committed to pooling their reservation systems. “The Caribbean islands are 200 to 300 km apart on average, but there are few cross connections. We will therefore connect our networks, but also make reconciliations concerning operations, reservations and finance. Passengers will be able to go from one end of the Caribbean to the other with a single ticket, ”explains Serge Tsygalnitzky, managing director of Air Antilles Express.
Thirty Caribbean destinations
The union of these three airlines will serve at least thirty Caribbean destinations. "The alliance of these three airlines will allow in the future, to offer a good thirty Caribbean destinations, so it is the different Caribbean cultures that will come closer, whether they are English-speaking, Spanish-speaking or French-speaking", comments Mathias Flodrops project spokesperson. The reconciliation of reservation systems and other facilities is planned over a three-year period.
Caribsky a total 4,6 million euros
The project, for a total amount of 4,6 million euros, is co-financed by the Interreg Caribbean program, of which 1,8 million come from the ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) and 417 euros from the Fed (European Fund of development). The balance is financed by the airlines Winair, Liat, Air Antilles and Discover Dominica Authority, (Dominica Tourist Office).
After the official launch of CARIBSKY-PAIRE in April, travelers and users of regional airports in Guadeloupe and Martinique were able to discover communication media dedicated to the project from May 1 to 31, 2018 as part of Joli Mois de l 'Europe. Serge Tsygalnitzky ensures that this association "will bring more tourists to our destinations".
