As part of the Ironman 70.3 organized in Panama on Sunday March 12, three of the four athletes from the Saint-Martin club specializing in the practice of triathlon qualified for the world championships in Finland.
During this Ironman Panama 2023, which included 1,9 km of swimming, 90 km of cycling and 21,1 km of running which required careful preparation beforehand, the sacrifices, work and perseverance paid off for the four athletes. Stéphane Bensaid, already qualified for the world championships in Finland, took first place in his M60-64 category with a record time of 4h53, widening the gap of 14 minutes with the participant who came in second position. It only took him "only" 2h23 to cover the 90km by bike. Gabriel Pertusot achieved an incredible performance by winning the qualification for the world championships by climbing on the third podium in his M35-39 category. He completes the effort in 4h25 and settles in fifteenth place in the general classification. François Delaporte also confirms his qualification for the world championships in Finland which will take place on August 26 and 27, 2023 after narrowly missing that of Ironman 70.3 in Florida three months ago. After training hard, the athlete completed a perfect race in Panama in 4h48, hoisting him to the first podium in his M55-59 category, 10 minutes ahead of the second in the standings. Luc Gorostica, back from injury, did well with a good time of 5:32 with twelfth place in his M55-59 category. SXM Tri Académie would like to thank the sponsors who allowed the passionate athletes to live this unique experience: Pac Distribution, Ares Sécurité & Protection, Actifroid, Sportfit, Linko, NG Invest without forgetting the Collectivity of Saint-Martin for its support. Kudos to them! _VX
