Franck Lopez, a school teacher, taught in several overseas territories before settling six years ago in Saint-Martin. He teaches in CM2 class at the Clair Saint Maximin school in Quartier d'Orléans.
He wants to make students aware of the practice of the French language. “We have children who speak mainly English, which also creates difficulty in reading traditional French texts or novels that are not within their reach,” he confides. To circumvent this difficulty, he thought that his pupils would need novels which would speak about characters, about places with which they could be identified. Books “within their reach”. So he imagined "Mystery at the Galleon".
The story takes place in Quartier d'Orléans. "A young boy from Saint-Martin will make a strange discovery that will take him on a disturbing adventure," says the author.
“Le Mystère au Galion” was released on September 21st by Edilivre editions. It is mainly aimed at classes of CM1, CM2 and early secondary. It is currently available online on the Edilivre or Fnac sites. It is not yet available at bookstores in Saint-Martin. About twenty copies were distributed to the Clair Saint-Martin school so that the students could study it this year. The author hopes that the novel will be used educationally in other classes in Saint-Martin. (www.soualigapost.com)
