A tropical depression in the making

The disturbance located off the African coast could develop into a tropical depression in the coming days. It will affect the West Indies archipelago from this weekend but forecasters are still uncertain as to its final intensity and trajectory.

Environmental conditions will be conducive to development, forecasters at the National Hurricane Center are warning, and a tropical depression is likely to form in the coming days as the system moves toward the West Indian arc. The NHC evaluated yesterday at 70% the probabilities of a strengthening in 24 hours and 90% in 5 days. Forecasts will be refined in the coming days.
