In the Atlantic area, the 2016 hurricane season should look like the previous one, according to forecasts. It was Alain Muzelec, from Météo France's meteorological center in Guadeloupe, who provided details during the preparation meeting for the new hurricane season at the Hôtel de la Collectivité, last week: “13 phenomena are expected, including six hurricanes and two major hurricanes. ” On this occasion, the specialist drew up a cyclone report for 2015, mentioned the impacts of cyclones - landslides, wave breaking, heavy rains - in pictures, and exposed the different levels of vigilance (yellow, orange, red, purple and Grey). Météo France sends the alerts to the prefecture. Recently, the State services have equipped themselves with a call machine: this device thus makes it possible to quickly send information and messages, particularly by SMS, to the actors concerned. The hurricane season will kick off on June 1 and end on November 30. From now on, the Collectivity invites the population to prepare for a possible phenomenon.
