What is Good Friday?
Christ was arrested and accused of sowing disorder through his teachings and usurping the title of Messiah, son of God. He is condemned to be nailed to a cross. Good Friday marks this day, that of the crucifixion and the death of Jesus Christ.
Is Good Friday a public holiday?
It is a public holiday in Alsace, Moselle as well as in certain overseas territories, in particular in the Antilles, therefore in Saint-Martin.
However, it is not a day off. As a reminder, only May 1 is a public holiday in France for all employees, unless otherwise stipulated.
For Good Friday, it is up to the company to decide whether its employees will work or not. If they work, they should not receive a higher remuneration except special agreements.
In Saint-Martin, a number of businesses will be closed. As well as schools and administrative services.
Easter Monday
As in mainland France, Easter Monday is also a public holiday in Saint-Martin, but it is not idle. Schools, administrations and a large number of businesses will also be closed today. (More details on www.soualigapost.com)
