As part of the new contract for the collection and removal of end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) launched by the Collectivity, VERDE-SXM receives ELVs collected on the roadside in order to dismantle and process them.
Concretely, VERDE receives the vehicles in a specific workshop on the site, then begins the vehicle depollution operation: extraction of the airbags, evacuation of the various fluids.
“At the end of this stage, our teams separate the rims and tires using a tire iron. Finally, we extract all the recoverable materials… In total, more than 2 hours of work are required to process an entire vehicle ”, specifies the manager of VERDE-SXM.
On each vehicle, many recoverable waste can still be recovered, reused or directed to specific treatment channels: metals, tires, used oil, plastics, glass, batteries, D3E, cable harnesses, etc.
Last step ? The compaction of the carcasses by the new scrap baler, which will allow them to be shipped to serve as raw materials for the metallurgical industry!
