Invited for the first time to a basketball tournament in the Republic Dominican which took place from July 24 to 29, the SXM Sports team Mouvement had an unforgettable experience for young athletes.
Composed of ten international teams including Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Panama, Saint-Kitts, Anguilla, Miami and New York, this great tournament allowed the young people of the SXM Sports Movement team to represent the colors of Saint-Martin. . Thanks to this competition, the Saint-Martin sports association was also able to launch the basketball platform for UFOLEP, the sports federation of the Education and Multisports League. It allows with a single license to practice several sports activities within the same association (excluding cycling and motorcycling). The cost is that of the license that leaves room for the practice of the sport presenting the highest risk. SXM Sports Mouvement is also launching its license campaign from September 1, 2023 to August 31, 2024 for basketball, baseball and softball, multi-disciplines accessible with a single €100 license. Created in 2019, the SXM Sports Mouvement association, chaired by Julius Richardson, aims to unite the Saint-Martin people in sport, to fight against delinquency and to improve the sporting discipline as a moral, spiritual and physical work. Its mission is to move forward with young people from the neighborhoods and the territory, in order to get them off the streets and unite them around sport. Arriving in Santo Domingo on July 22, the team of young athletes enjoyed a rewarding experience during the week-long tournament. If they have hardly won all their matches, the young people of Saint-Martin have not been unworthy and can be proud of their performance. Thanks to the support of the Collectivity and the prefecture as well as the sponsorship of McDonald's, the SXM Sports Mouvement team still has a very bright future ahead of it. _VX
